About the program

Waniati Maternal Waiting Home has valued that Education and sexual & reproductive health awareness is very important. Educate students about family planning and other health issues such as; STI, HIV AIDS in schools is vital. When students were well informed on the risk associated with uninformed health practices or behaviors then they avoid from abstracting STI and HIV AIDS.

When contraceptive methods are increased, it will decrease pregnancies and live births and decrease maternal mortality and morbidity as well as infant and child morality. Educated population in the school or community to embrace and accelerate bad behavior practices which leads to avoid unintended pregnancies, STI and HIV AIDS.

In Papua New Guinea development context, due to cultural and geographical barrier adults (parents & teachers) cannot openly speak to our young people on sexual and reproductive health and lacking proper education, particularly in the schools, rural areas and urban settlements often remains a challenge. Quality education includes outcomes that encompass knowledge, skills and attitudes.

Unless the young population are educated to a standard to understand the ad-vantages and disadvantages of having children very early in life, the population of PNG will continue to increase as alarming rate.
